Plan Change 120
Council has now publicly notified Plan Change 120. You can see the proposal, and the maps showing the proposed new zonings, on the Council website: https://new.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/en/plans-policies-bylaws-reports-projects/our-plans-strategies/unitary-plan/auckland-unitary-plan-modifications/proposed-plan-changes/pc-120-housing-intensification-resilience.html
As expected, the proposal is to reduce the number of properties in the Special Character Area (SCA) overlay from about 21000 in the Unitary Plan to 15357.
This is unnecessary and unacceptable. It will result in the loss of protection for a significant number of properties in SCAs, and the diminution and eventual destruction of those areas
The areas most affected will be Kingsland, Mt Eden, Sandringham, Mt Albert, Freemans Bay ,Parnell Remuera and Devonport. These are Auckland’s oldest suburbs, and together are an integral part of Auckland’s history, heritage and character.
It is important that as many groups and people as possible lodge submissions opposing this proposal. We have prepared three template submissions to help with this. These are only templates, you should change or add to them in your own submission and personalise it as you wish.
Template 1 is for groups
Template 2 is for owners of properties within a SCA
Template 3 is for owners of properties not within a SCA
